ALI continued to order select books and CDs from publishers directly in order to sell and distribute to Mu’mineen in North America. After selling books by displaying at Islamic centers in Vancouver and Orlando, ALI finally established an online bookstore in September 2006, just before the Holy month of Ramadhan 1428. The bookstore can be accessed at:
http://www.academyofislam.com/shop/default.asp
The site is updated regularly and books that have been newly received and/or are on sale are advertised on the website.
The books at ALI Bookstore cover a wide range of categories including :
- Holy Qur’an and its studies
- Hadith and its studies
- Ethics, Social and Spiritual issues
- Beliefs, Ideologies and Philosophies
- Biographies and History
- Jurisprudence and Law
- Videos and DVDs
- Children’s books
- . . . and more
ALI tries to include latest books that have been published that would be useful for Mu’mineen. Prices are subsidized to make the books more affordable for the public.
Islamic Insights online magazine had this to say recently about the Ali Bookstore in its Feb. 6th issue:
This site offers a smaller selection, but is notable for its excellent item descriptions, good prices and some unique or rare offerings.
Our aim of establishing online bookstore is to have select Islamic literature available at reasonable price for Madrasah teachers, Dhakireen, Muballigheen and others who be interested in learning about Shi`h Islam.
